At age 51, John Laposky, a Berkeley Heights resident and longstanding PAL in-town and travel baseball coach, was taken from his family and community too soon.
Born in Pennsylvania, John attended Bethlehem Catholic High School and Leigh University. John majored in journalism, wrote for Brown and White, hosted a radio show on WLVR, and was a brother of Phi Sigma Kappa.
John was passionate about the game of baseball and instilled the love of the game into our youth. A disciplined and learned fan with an unwavering alliance to the Phillies and dedicated fantasy league competitor for nearly 3 decades, John's love of the game was epitomized in his involvement with Berkeley Heights baseball.
To honor John, and the kick-off this year's PAL season, Friends of Berkeley Heights Recreation Commission is sponsoring a fundraising Home Run Derby immediately following the PAL Opening Day Parade on April 6, 2019.
All funds raised will be used towards a home run fence and any other sports related equipment or programs
